"You don't respect those people very much, because you're young and arrogant. But I don't respect them very much either, because I'm old and wise."

Neal Stephenson, "Snow Crash"

Begun in 1949 as The Magazine of Fantasy, the publication changed its name to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction with its second issue and has retained that title until the present.

A British edition published two series, one from 1953 until 1954 and the second from 1959 until 1964.

An Australian edition was published for several issues between 1954 and 1958.

Venture was introduced as a companion magazine in 1957. It was 'absorbed' into The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction from 1968 until 1969, when it was reissued again under its own name.

The British edition was a reprint edition, published from 1963 until 1965.
