Electro-Pulp Video Magazine Premieres Today
Yes indeed. Late last night and early this morning I put the finishing touches on the first issue of EPVM.
I’m waiting for the final rendering and then I have to chop it up into 4 eight minute segments (it ran just over the half hour I was shooting for).
Later on today, after errands are finished, I’ll publish it to the web.
Part 1 concerns the publication history of the magazine.
Part 2 deals with the editorial team and some of the writers
Part 3 covers the lead novel in the issue – Weinbaum’s The Black Flame and the Howard V. Brown artwork that illustrates it
Part 4 takes everyone through the Otis Adelbert Kline editorial, several non-fiction pieces and the letter column – The Ether Vibrates
This being my first video attempt at anything beyond chopping a full clip from the camera, I expect folks will find it a bit rough – and I think it is as well. But I learned a lot during the process (including tape in small segments) and the fact that while I think I do a pretty good narration, I would like to go back and edit out the “uhms” – but that process would take years, and I don’t want to delay this first installment any more by going back and re-recording.
So don’t think of this as a piece for the History Channel, think of it more like a panel at a con, or a couple of friends sitting around the table as one of them pontificates on a favorite subject.
