Now that I found your reviews...
Wish I had read the "V" review before I watched. Oh, but that turned out OK. It put me right to sleep. It is definitely a sci-fi misnomer.
No need to schedule that to record again.

I haven't seen it and don't plan to. The review I read said it was a not so disguised right wing attack on Obama! Isn't there enough of that on Fox News?

LOL. I'm not surprised that it got "glowing" reviews as "intelligent sci fi".

That it could just illustrates the point that I've been trying to make for almost two years now - most "mass media" science fiction ISN'T.

Having missed the show when it premiered, I hoped you were being perhaps unnecessarily hard on the show. The reviews have been mostly glowing, really exciting.

Having now actually /seen/ the show (via Amazon's Video On Demand streaming service), wow. What a clunky turd.

First off, this isn't space opera. Call it what you will, but there's no fun, no adventure, no galaxy-spanning adventure, no sensasunda. This may be the sci-fi which is the dumbing-down of more legit science fiction.

I mean, I'm probably the demographic they're going after, but could you be any more ham-fisted and obvious? The only surprise in the entire first episode was just how cliche' and clunky everything was. I laughed out loud when divorced FBI mom stepped in front of her son to protect him as they stared up at the green screen.

Look, I'm all for serious discussions of, well, all these issues. But this isn't a loving canvas painted by a master. It's a mass produced paint-by-number set that we've already seen before. I'm a Theist, and even I hate preaching to the choir.

I'd rather go back and watch reruns of Firefly. Again.
