Holiday is Over
Now the holiday weekend rolls to an end – except of course for Cyber Monday (spend whatever is left over from Thursday…)
I managed to fix the camera tripod over the weekend and got another set of shelves built. The pile of boxes in the bedroom closet has taken a serious beating and is almost non-existent. Only down side is that there’s a pile of old pulps (Amazing vol 1 no 1 included) that I haven’t managed to locate yet and I’m not going to feel right until I do. That’s a mag with a hefty price tag and I can’t afford to replace it if it has truly gone missing somehow. But in all likelihood it is just in an improperly labeled box.
Once the third set of shelves has been built (tomorrow? tuesday?) I’ll have gotten all of the SF, the military history and probably all of the science books back up onto shelves. The non-SF fiction and a variety of other this and that’s will remain in boxes. I really ought to think about trading most of those in somewhere as it is unlikely that I will re-read some of the spy thrillers that make up a goodly portion. And I know that most of the anthropology texts are woefully out of date…
But it is a happy-making thing to be able to see the books once again – even if they are stacked horizontally.
Once the shelves are done and the remaining spaces filled, I’ll be in for a round of sorting to get things back into order. THEN I will really be able to research if and when I need to. I suspect that lots of pithy quotes will be forthcoming as a result.
And scans, and probably some reviews of well-worn and loved stories.
