Convention Season – 2010

HAL is still in hibernation and floating about somewhere in Jupiter’s moon system. Meanwhile, I’m down here on Earth, still waiting for them to build Moonbase Clavius so they can discover the Monolith and get that whole story arc kicked off.

Waiting for that to happen doesn’t waste nearly enough time and, while I can think of plenty of other time-wasters to add in, I figured that attending an area SF con or two might not be a bad option.

The New England Fan Experience is coming up pretty fast – though it strikes me as having more of a “commercial con” feel to it

Arisia 2010 follows shortly thereafter and I’ve yet to be to one of these ‘dissident offspring of Boskone’ convention

and, of course, Boskone 2010 arrives in February.

Who, if anyone is planning on attending any of these events? Be careful in responding as I will be basing my choices on your responses.

  1. Well, I’ll be at Loscon in L.A., but you already said you’re not coming to the left coast so that’s out. Since I don’t usually travel to the dark, er, east coast, I have no idea. The people at NESFA do such a great job publishing, I’d guess their con is pretty good, but I have no idea, really. Go to the one you think will BE THE MOST FUN.

  2. I’m probably skipping Arisia until next year since the hotel they’ve been in the past four years has been way too small for them. Next year supposedly they are starting up with a different better hotel.

For Boskone I’m debating actually staying at the hotel this time. I never to it because I live in Boston, but in winter getting to and fro is a pain. I suspect I’d enjoy the cons a whole lot more if I just spent the bucks and stayed onsite.
