Review: Futurama – Into The Wild Green Yonder

futurama_title_screenI had intended to review this full-length feature that was originally released direct to DVD:  I absolutely love the tongue-in-cheek sendups of the genre that they shoehorn into every episode – not to mention the social commentary.

Alas – I fell asleep multiple times during Comedy Central’s premiere airing, finally succumbing partway into the second hour.

I wasn’t that tired either, so I guess my review and my falling asleep kind of coincide.

What I did see of this episode struck me as unusually slow-paced and and mostly un-funny:  too many interwoven plots and, while most of Futurama comes out of left field, the Universe’s largest miniature golf course just didn’t seem threatening enough to me to really get all that excited about.

My reaction to this show may also have been overshadowed by the run-up repeats aired, including the ‘multiverse in a box’ episode – “Farnsworth’s Parabox” – which I consider to be among the funniest of all Futurama episodes.

  1. I occasionally catch an episode of FUTURAMA but I don’t go out of my way to see it. The episodes seem very uneven. I’ve seen some hilarious ones like “Farnsworth’s Paradox” but I’ve also seen some dogs.
