IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) ? Science fiction fans are in luck.

The University of Iowa Libraries in Iowa City has acquired a collection of about 3,000 science fiction so-called fanzines.

They are fan-created magazines focused. Most of the thousands of pieces in the Marielle (Ming) Wathne Fanzine Archive Collection focus on science fiction staples like “Star Trek” and “Star Wars.”

Greg Prickman is the assistant head of UI’s special collections. He says there’s a lot of scholarly interest in fanzines.

From HERE

From the Associated Press.? From the AP!?!

There’s so much bad in there I can’t even pick something to focus on – except for:? if this is what professionals are submitting for publication, we are all surely doomed.

UofI acquires 3,000 fanzines that are so-called fanzines.

I think it is time for a ‘zine who’s name is So Called, don’t you?

Here is truth from the mountaintop.? If you want to be a successful writer (non-fic or fic) your first mandatory task is to seek out a lobotomy because 99% of your potential audience sees absolutely nothing wrong with that news piece.

Tomorrow, I’ll be offering up my review of Thomas Greanias’ Raising Atlantis.?? And yes, the above is related.

  1. “They are fan-created magazines focused.” Sounds like something badly translated from Japanese. Strangely, I couldn’t find this story on the actual AP site. What I did find is disturbing in a different way.

“James Frey writing teen science fiction novels.

Frey, a former screenwriter best known for his discredited memoir “A Million Little Pieces,” is collaborating on a four-book series of teen science fiction novels that HarperCollins will publish.”

    That’s just what we need.
