Electronic Submissions

John Scalzi has a piece today commenting on the fact that THE BIG 3 (SF mags) do not accept electronic submissions.

I agree with his points, but am going off on a tangent here.

The points John makes are actually a blueprint for a service someone could provide to writers who want to submit to the Big 3 but can’t or won’t take the trip back to the 70s.

Send your ms in along with your preferred order of submission, postage and a small fee to cover envelope, paper, ink etc.? The service prints it out and mails it in.

Of course, that sounds kind of like Kinkos – but I’m thinking two other things:? 1 – it’s a service provided by an underpaid author (not me) and second – think of the wealth of material, all in one place.? There’s bound to be some good stuff that nevertheless gets rejected by all three of those mags…
