Two Year Olds Want To Be In Charge

and even tho we know they want to, as adults we recognize that desire and reality are very far apart.

I had a whole weekend of alternately falling out of my seat from laughter and nearly throwing up in my mouth as I watched bits and pieces of the CPAC convention that was so eagerly and unabashedly promoted on FOX.

Highlights were the 13 year-old conservative wunderkind: ok – so now we really know where these right-wing loons are getting their guidance from

Ann Coulter’s snubbing of a questioner – demonstrating every right-wingers go-to solution for dissent: “Leave the mike”. Yep – you don’t agree with us, so just STFU.

I was suddenly struck by a mental comparison between Coulter and a famous fantasy character – so much so that I grabbed a couple of images and dropped them into photoshop for a side-by-side compare. Go take a look at Margaret Hamilton portraying the Wicked Witch of the West, and then take a look at Coulter – the wicked witch of the right. Just sayin…

And of course Rush who self-contradicts nearly every other paragraph while getting applause every paragraph – firmly confirming that – at least so far as Repulicans who bothered to attend CPAC are concerned – there is no critical thinking going on over there AT ALL.

I literally laughed out loud when I heard Rush belittle and denigrate ‘intellectualism’ and then a paragraph or two later explain that the only way that Republicans could retrieve the high-ground was to explain their policies. I wish I could reproduce Lewis Black’s headshaking ‘hu-wa-hu-wa what!?’ confusion here.

So when dems ‘explain’ policy, they’re wasting time and over-thinking things, but when it’s time for the gop, its ok to spend some time. Guess it depends on who is being ‘intellectual’.

It all seems to come down to their unwillingness to accept the fact that the policies they endorse are responsible for the most serious economic crises ever faced by this country. Which means that they’ve yet to figure out that the policies are wrong – which, exhibiting a bout of intellectualism here – means that they aren’t about to think about changing those policies.

Which, if I can engage in a bit of logic from inference here, means that they’re unlikely to get back into power any time soon. Heh, I guess in the long run Nuremburg style rallies like CPAC are a good thing.
