ARTICLES

This section features various articles and other pieces that relate in one way or another to Chandler's works, the Rim Worlds or the Concordance. Many of them should be considered first drafts. Don't be surprised if you find a factual error or two, I haven't yet been over them with a fine-toothed comb.

When I consider a piece to be a final draft, I'll mark it as such (and then the real critiquing can begin).

You'll find a link and an explanatory paragraph for each of them below.

THE SHORT INTRODUCTION What else other than a slimmed down version of the LONG INTRODUCTION? After I finished the original introduction, I realized that most people would not be willing to sit through such a windy recitation on the joys of discovering science fiction. So I cut out all the exciting and sexy parts and ended up with this.

THE LONG INTRODUCTION This is essentially a very SHORT science fictional autobiogphy. That's not to say that its a fake autobiography. Rather, it is the encapsulated history of my involvement with science fiction and how it led to this. With pictures, no less.

THE ACTUAL INTRODUCTION This is the piece that would be titled An Introduction to the Rim Worlds Concordance, if there were An Introduction to the Rim Worlds Concordance.

AN INTERVIEW WITH A. BERTRAM CHANDLER - Copyright (c) 1983 By Darrel Schweitzer. Reprinted from Amazing Stories Magazine with permission of the author.

NOTORIETY A slightly ranty look at how deserving of fame and accolades A. Bertram Chandler really is. I think he should be in the SF Hall of Fame and if they gave posthumous Grand Master Awards, he ought to get one. So there.

CHANDLER'S AWARDS Really nothing more than a wordy rendition of the honors that Chandler has received.

THE GALAXY An article discussing our present day galaxy as compared to the one found in the stories. This article includes factual information regarding the stars mentioned in the stories (drawn from a variety of astronomical web sites).

THE SHIPS In this piece I really begin to delve into the detail of one of the main features of the Rim Worlds stories - the spaceships. I draw some parallels between the merchant and fighting navies that Chandler was familiar with and the ships in his stories and also provide a fair amount of detail on what they look like and how they work.

LOST STORIES The case for having found a missing Grimes story
